August Birthdays: Part 1

Since it is almost mid-September I figured I should write about the August birthdays we celebrated! Hang in there with me... I'm still trying to get use to this blogging thing. I suppose it would help if the items I posted were actually timely. I'll work on that.

In early August, Jordan's mom, Connie, celebrated her birthday with a ride of a lifetime - a ride on a mechanical bull! After a day hanging out at her pool and dinner at El Chile we headed over the Trophy Room and saddled up! It was so much fun! I love that Connie is up for anything. Check out her birthday rodeo ride below!

Next up was Jordan. He did a pretty good job! Although I have to admit I'm hoping this MBA thing works out as I don't see him seeking employment at a dude ranch anytime soon.

Then it was my turn. I was thankful for deciding to wear jeans that evening as I hopped up on the bull! I'm not sure if you can see my expression all that well in the photo below, but needless to say... I was a little apprehensive.

Despite my reaction above, we all had a blast! I think trying something new on your birthday is a wonderful tradition and one that we should keep moving forward. What a perfect day to step outside of your comfort zone and test yourself. Go eat a different cuisine you never thought you would try. Decide to run a marathon and sign up with a training group. Go buy a canvas and paint a picture. Ride a mechanical bull. The possibilities are endless.You would start the next year of your life open to the unknown and may discover something you really like. Or you might make a total fool of yourself. Regardless, you'd have a pretty cool story to tell for the next year! I think I just sold myself on this idea. Hmmm...now what to do in December?
